yay internet. i'm glad that the fact that you are considering replacing me with a dog is also semi-public knowledge now. just let me know if you locate a dog that is able to paint your house, wait for service-persons and beat you at scrabble

nice! wicked update, Trace. I do love it. Glad to hear about the furniture and the breadmaker. I look forward to scouring Craigslist for furniture when the time comes for us to need it.

The kids with disabilities thing is really interesting, too. I'm excited for you for that. I was reminded recently how incredibly rewarding it is to work with kids like that. *sigh* it's complex.

I love you, trace!

Wow, trace, it sounds great. I can't wait to see the pictures, especially if you remember to do before and after! (I know, personally, that's something I'd probably forget).

Sometimes I haven't done my devos or prayed or done much "God time" because I felt like it required 20 minutes, or some imaginary block of time that I just knew I didn't have time for... the way around this is to be willing to do 3 minutes here, five minutes there - basically, whenever you remember, or whenever you want to, just do it. Sit down for five minutes and pray. Read a short psalm. Whatever. Yea it'll feel a bit rushed but it's better than nothing, and it really does make a difference - being willing to start is have the battle, right?

You ate corn on the cob! That's amazing! How was it? It wasn't that difficult, eh?

Let me know how the spaghetti sauce tasted with my very special home-grown tomato in it :D I bet it made all the difference ;)

I had a sandwich at lunch today with just hummus, cheese and tomato and OHMYGOODNESS it was so good!

Right now I'm making banana bread. I'm excited! I hope it turns out. I had to buy flour for the recipe (I ran out) and while I was in the baking aisle I picked up an aluminum (disposable) "cake pan". So, we'll have to see how my square loaf of bread turns out! I'm sure it'll be better than having recreated the wide tin-foil shallow pan, however, maybe some biscotti-thickness banana bread isn't that bad an idea!

I'm so glad you visited, too, Trace. I'm glad you liked my church and bonded with Olivia :D Haha. It was pretty awesome, seeing you interact with her. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is naturally good with children and Tracy? You have a GIFT my friend. Above and BEYOND. The skill! It was truly impressive. Asking about school? GENIUS! I will have to remember that the next time I try to relate to a child...haha. Seriously, though. I forget, sometimes, that school is a huge part of their lives.

Regarding your excitement over part-time hours: ROCK ON, sister. I am honestly a wee bit jealous. I yearn for more time to invest in outside activities. It sounds strange, but I'm seriously considering how I could maneuver less hours/less money, etc. The amazing thing about life, Trace, is that God gives it to us as a gift to use for His glory. Work should be something that ENABLES this, not hinders it. If you make enough money working part-time to live, then use the rest of those hours to do those other things. I'm thinking of what else I want to do, either with the church, or with schooling (not for a while, but it's in the back of my mind), or with volunteering, and I know I can't do them all with a full-time job. It's difficult, discerning what God wants us to do, but I believe that if we ask and come to Him, He'll show us. Day by day.

Anyway, it was good reading your blog. I've subscribed to the RSS feed so I got notified of it today when you posted :D

love you!

:) It's ok for things to suck, and it's ok to be sad. the thing is we have to remember is it's temporary, and while we may not always get a rainbow, Jesus is right there with us, shivering in the rain, too, and he'll be with us when we dry off and the sun peaks through the clouds, even for a moment. Those promises still hold true, even though we don't always remember them or see how they're playing out.

So good to hear summer is treating you well. Sweet, sweet summer. Sometimes I hold on to it so tight I don't enjoy it, I just get sad thinking that it won't last... :(

Hey you should put "the shack" on your list of summer reads. I read it in about 6 hours. It would probably take you less. It's so good though, seriously. If you want to take a night to yourself, with you and God and a good book, this is it. It's fiction, but it might just change your life! :)
